After the worldwide success of the dance and music of the “Jerusalema” pandemic, management and staff rallied together to produce an excellent version of the piece, creating a stir on social media. Comments and congratulations came from all around on a remarkable production that lifted the spirits of so many at the time.
Following the success of the Bitumen World version of Jerusalema, and considering the difficulties so many people had endured, often due to isolation and travel restrictions, and family loss during the CoVID 19 pandemic, Bitumen World’s CEO, Mr Zietsman, was inspired to produce a piece of music, that might go some way to ease the anxiety of being away from home and families. Music that would conjure up memories of home and family, no matter how far away people found themselves.
Daniel Deushcle wrote the song “Zimbabwe” that Henry Olonga, a Zimbabwe cricketer at the time, made famous in the country. A singer and a songwriter, he was exposed to a variety of rhythms, sounds and types of music growing up and incorporates his experiences into a truly African sound.
Bitumen World in conjunction with Daniel, Michelle Nativel, OH Snap Media House, the Bitumen World and Celebration Choirs and staff at Bitumen World, the soundtrack and video – “Take the Road Home” was completed. The lyrics and the video showcasing so many special places in Zimbabwe, it melted many hearts and evoked so many reminders of home.
Lyrics
Take the Road Home
There are colours in our sunsets that you’ll never forget, and beauties that cannot be sung.
There’s a place that smoke thunders, but the people are the wonders, there’s nothing they can’t overcome.
And that’s the road home and that’s what I want. I’ll follow it to the place where I am from, Zimbabwe, you are beautiful.
Gonna take the road home, gonna take the road home.
And the rising of the morning brings a hope in our hearts, no matter what yesterday’s seen.
And the love in our people, like the land makes you feel. The mountains in the east highlands sing.
And that’s the road home and that’s what I want. I’ll follow it to the place where I am from, Zimbabwe, you are beautiful.
Take the road home, so take the road home
There are colours in our sunsets that you’ll never forget, and beauties that cannot be sung.
Zimbabwe you are beautiful, take the road home, take the road home. That’s the road home, that’s what I want. I’ll follow it to the place where I am from – Zimbabwe you are beautiful
Gonna take the road home, so take the road home!
